How to make friendship bracelets
To make a friendship bracelet, you should cut several thread of various colours, and link all of them with a simple waiting knot.
Then you start the bracelet knots using two threads for each knot. There is only two kind of half-knots: the half-knot to the right, and the half-knot to the left. Because each bracelet node is a knot composed of two half-knots, there are only four types of nodes to make a bracelet.
-
Right-node: two half-knots to the right

- Clearly identify the left thread (here in red) and the right thread (here in blue).
- Cross the left thread above the right thread in order to form a loop, like the 4 figure shape.
- The left thread (red), goes under the loop, then is pulled upward through this loop.
- Tighten carefully this first half-knot, that we'll call Half-knot to the right. Note that at the beginning, the existing knots are not strong enough, so you cannot tighten to much your knots, and you should mainly pay attention to the placement of your knots.
- Perform exactly the same way, to execute a second Half-knot to the right.
- When you tighten this second Half-knot to the right, you obtain the complete Right-node. You can notice that it's the left thread which gave the colour to the node (red), and then continued its way to the right.
-
Left-node: two half-knots to the left

- Clearly identify the left thread (here in blue) and the right thread (here in red).
- Cross the right thread above the left thread in order to form a loop, like an inversed 4 figure shape.
- The right thread (red), goes under the loop, then is pulled upward through this loop.
- Tighten carefully this first half-knot, that we'll call Half-knot to the left. Note that at the beginning, the existing knots are not strong enough, so you cannot tighten to much your knots, and you should mainly pay attention to the placement of your knots.
- Perform exactly the same way, to execute a second Half-knot to the left.
- When you tighten this second Half-knot to the left, you obtain the complete Left-node. You can notice that it's the right thread which gave the colour to the node (red), and then continued its way to the left.

- Perform a second Half-knot , following the instructions for a Half-knot to the left.
- When you tighten this second Half-knot, you obtain the complete Left-half-node. You can notice that it's the left thread which gave the colour to the node (red), and then continued its way back to the left.
